An opportunity has come up for a Senior Designer â Menswear to contribute to and support the delivery of Sportscraft seasonal collections.
This role is crucial for interpreting and bringing to life the creative vision outlined by our Design Director. The ideal candidate will have a well developed sense of style, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of design principles. You will work directly with the Design Director and collaborate with the broader team to ensure the design outputs align with Sportscrafts distinctive aesthetic. This role requires a mix of creativity, commerciality and leadership.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ideating and executing trend-driven, customer-focused product ranges
- Collaborating with the wider Buying and Production teams to achieve brand vision and best in market offerings
- Coaching Design Assistants and fostering supplier & seller relationships.
- Driving sales and profitability through innovative designs that align with strategic goals

The Role
- Oversee the design process from initial concept through to final product, ensuring design consistency and high quality
- Extensively research creative ideas and provide design input into relevant collections in line with the brand DNA that meets customer needs and offers constant innovation
- Source fabric/trims and product inspiration in line with the design vision
- Responsible for all initial product costings, finding solutions to ensure all product hits target margins yet remains within the design vision and our high-quality standards.
- Maintain supplier relationships, helping maximize margins and help facilitate growth for the brand, always focusing on win/win relationships for both parties.
- Create and manage weekly WIP and update Head of Design of any potential delays or risk to the range development and samples.
- Negotiate costs with vendors to ensure margin requirements are met at style and category level and Complete costing documents for sign-off ready for handover to buying and planning team.
- Incorporate feedback from Head of Design to fine-tune designs and align with strategic goals.
- Working alongside CLO 3D technician providing clear tech packs and fabric information for garments to be sewn up and providing fit/design comments in CLO-SET on sewn garments in order for them to be coloured and rendered in time for sign off.
You
- Design background and/or Degree qualified in Design, Production, Textile or similar
- 5 years + of professional experience in similar role, Menswear essential
- Proven experience in executing commercially successful product
- Is experienced in dealing with offshore suppliers and factories
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, fit and textile development
- Strong knowledge of the product cycle and product development timelines
- Highly detail oriented, organized, can set standards and execute, as well as have priority and follow through skills, ensuring deadlines are met and critical path is maintained
- Responsible with a make it happen attitude
- Able to make decisions under tight deadlines
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work inside and drive a framework
- Experience in hand or CAD sketching desired
- Experience in CLO and CLO-SET desired but not essential as training can be provided
