Senior Financial Accountant

We are looking for an exceptional Senior Financial Accountant to support the Financial Controller to ensure a high standard of accounting is maintained across the Group. You will be assigned one of our iconic brands and expected to demonstrate complete ownership of the assigned brand’s trial balance. The role requires you to partner with colleagues both inside and outside of finance to report insights that will help drive positive outcomes for your brand.As a Senior Financial Accountant, you will be expected to take on a leadership role within the team to help develop and mentor other junior accountants. The Role

Month End P&L Result

  • Process the month end journals for commercial team to produce profit & loss
  • Perform P&L variance analysis through the preparation of the month end P&L templates
  • Succinct presentation of variance analysis
  • Assist commercial in producing monthly reports

Balance Sheet Reconciliations

  • Ownership of full TB for assigned brands
  • Monthly review with FC/Commercial identifying areas of risk
  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations at brand and group level (as appropriate) for assigned accounts (ie Intercompany/Stock/AP)

Year- End

  • Prepare and review year-end journals
  • Assist Finance Controller through audit process

Internal audit

  • Support adherence to policies, procedures & controls.
  • Apply &/ or implement recommendations from internal & external audits.
  • Assist with the development of internal audit procedures.

Stock Management

  • Oversee the stock management process, ensuring stock levels are accurate in store/Goods-in-transit (GIT)/Head office warehouses

Cash flow forecasting

  • Managing the business’ 12 week and 12month cash flow forecasts

People management

  • Proactive mentoring of junior accountants in the team

Process Improvement

  • Challenge the current process for any inefficiencies and proactively take an initiative to improve them
  • Consistency achieved in all processes/outputs across team
  • Prepare process manuals
  • Actively share knowledge with team members

Bank covenants

  •  Preparation of quarterly compliance certificates to the bank

You

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in financial / accounting functions
  • Experience in retail sector for Australia and New Zealand would be an advantage
  • Prior experience with Apparel 21 or similar ERP systems is preferred.
  • Experience in mentoring and managing junior staff
  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA/CA qualification or equivalent (or working towards)
  • Proven working knowledge of AASB / IFRS
  • Advance Excel
  • Knowledge of Power BI, Medius Flow, Procube, and Lease Eagle is an advantage.
