Born in 1914, Sportscraft is Australia’s original fashion brand.  An opportunity has come up for a 12 month maternity contract for a Designer for our Sportscraft (Womenswear) brand to contribute to and support the delivery of Sportscraft seasonal collections.APG & CoA leader in the Australian fashion industry, APG & Co designs and manages Sportscraft, SABA and JAG. APG & Co values working as a collective, thriving on change, and playing to win. We are built to last.  The RoleContribute to the design process, from concept inception to finalisationExtensively research creative ideas and provide design input into relevant collections in line with the Brand DNA that meets customer needs and offers constant innovationSource fabric/trims and product inspiration in line with the design visionAttend fittings and collaborate with other designers in the team, associates and patternmakers for adherence to quality and brand standardsResponsible for all initial product costings, finding solutions to ensure all product hits target margins yet remains within the design vision and our high-quality standards.Maintain supplier relationships, helping maximize margins and help facilitate growth for the brand, always focusing on win/win relationships for both parties.Create and manage weekly WIP and update Head of Design of any potential delays or risk to the range development and samples.Negotiate costs with vendors to ensure margin requirements are met at style and category level and Complete costing documents for sign-off ready for handover to buying and planning team.Partner with Head of Design, attending 1st fit sessions and updating CADs and AP21 when changes are made.Working alongside CLO 3D technician providing clear tech packs and fabric information for garments to be sewn up and providing fit/design comments in CLO-SET on sewn garments in order for them to be coloured and rendered in time for sign off.Colouring up sewn garments in CLO-SET and adding appropriate trim details for sign off, pre buy and ranging. YouHas a design background and/or Degree qualified in Design, Production, Textile or similarHas 5 years + of professional experience in similar role across Women’s and/ or Men’s wearIs experienced in dealing with offshore suppliers and factoriesHas a strong knowledge of the product cycle and product development timelinesMust be highly detail oriented, organized, can set standards and execute, as well as have priority and follow through skills, ensuring deadlines are met and critical path is maintainedBe responsible with a make it happen attitudeBe able to make decisions under tight deadlinesClear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skillsHigh attention to detailAbility to work inside and drive a frameworkExperience in hand or CAD sketching desiredExperience in CLO and CLO-SET desired but not essential as training can be provided Where do I sign?As part of the APG family you'll enjoy plenty of exiting rewards and benefits.50% discount on all brandsFlexible working - hybrid of work from home and in our beautiful officesTrue work / life balance, including 4pm Friday finishBirthday leaveCulture Club - monthly social events, monthly morning tea and moreAn Employee Assistance Program for you and your familyPaid Parental LeaveRecognition and Service awardsEmployee Referral ProgramStyle your career in a new direction - apply now and join our talented team.
