Senior Designer – JAG Womenswear/Menswear (9 mth contract)

An opportunity has come up for a Senior Designer (on a contract basis) for our JAG (menswear/womenswear) brand to contribute to and support the delivery of JAG seasonal collections. JAG was founded in 1972 and has been reinvented as a relaxed, understated and versatile brand with a core product offering that is considered in design. The Role

  • Contribute to the design process, from concept inception to finalisation, under the brand's Creative Director
  • Work in collaboration with the buying team to deliver ranges in line with the brand DNA
  • Extensively research creative ideas and provide design input into relevant collections in line with the Brand DNA that meets customer needs and offers constant innovation
  • Create technical drawings both by hand and through our design platform CLO for pattern maker and production use
  • Attend fittings and collaborate with other designers in the team, associates and patternmakers for adherence to quality and brand standards
  • Work with textile designers on print creation and presentation
  • Any task related to the development and production of the samples ranges for press and sales
  • General design room management and administration tasks
  • Work in conjunction with Quality Technicians to ensure product has a high standard of consistent fit and high quality workmanship
  • Fitting experience and a strong understanding of garment construction. Ensuring quality samples are received & fitted in a timely manner & timelines adhered to

 

You

The successful candidate will possess a strong sense of personal style, exceptional original design skill that can be expressed by illustrations and have a genuine passion and understanding of luxury designer fashion.

  • 10+ years in a design role with a major fashion retailer OR your own label
  • Strong knowledge of the Australian fashion market 
  • Excellent technical drawing ability
  • Adoptive approach to technology in the design process
  • Detail oriented
  • KPI and deadline driven 
  • Partner with Buying to deliver sell through and margin 
  • Advanced understanding of garment construction, fit and finishes
  • Advanced Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign skills
